STEVE CREECH JOINS NDR

Nazarene Compassionate Ministries is pleased to announce that Rev. Steve Creech has joined the staff of NCM, Inc., as director of Nazarene Disaster Response (NDR). Rev. Creech has 25 years of field experience in disaster relief and has been the Southeast Regional Director since the beginning of NDR. For the last 11 years, Rev. Creech has served as senior pastor of Plymouth Church of the Nazarene in Plymouth, North Carolina. During his pastoral assignment, Rev. Creech served as a volunteer paramedic and is certified as an EMS rescue instructor in North Carolina. He also carries multiple certifications from FEMA in the areas of Emergency Management and Disaster Services. Prior to the pastorate, he was a police officer and firefighter medic as well as a full-time employee of the Red Cross, and a member of their National Response Team.

As NDR Director, Rev. Creech will be charged with training the denomination for better mobilization in future disasters, improving coordination and communication among local churches and districts, and increasing the scope of NDR’s response. “This ministry is essential for the existence of the church,” shared Steve. “We are providing the gospel to individuals through love and physical care in their time of need. The greatest challenge ahead will be training volunteers. We need rapid response teams with the knowledge and resources to best meet the needs of any given crisis. Our goal is that NDR will be one of the premier disaster response organizations in the country.”

“I’m excited and thrilled for this next step in the development of NDR,” stated NDR’s National Field Coordinator, Dr. J.V. Morsch. “It is the fulfillment of the dream we had for NDR at its inception. Steve has a broad background in all aspects of disaster response. He is a dedicated churchman, committed to compassionate ministry, and has extensive field experience in emergency response. He is the best possible person to meet the needs of NDR.” Dr. Morsch will continue to utilize his vast experience and network of contacts as liaison to NDR’s numerous partner organizations.
