The Hispanic Mission Office convened and celebrated its Second District Superintendents and Coordinators Conference October 7-9. The purpose of the conference was to introduce resources developed by the Hispanic Mission Office, share evangelism/discipleship best practices, and information about ministerial education; as well as dialog for the future advancement of the Hispanic Ministries in the USA/Canada. The conference also served as a time to fellowship, network and foster collaboration among districts, educational regions, and across the nation.

The conference was well attended. Present were the three Hispanic district superintendents, 26 Hispanic-Latino coordinators, some spouses, and other Hispanic leaders for a total of 45 participants. Oliver Phillips, Mission Strategy Office Director; Daniel Ketchum, Nazarene Mission International Director; and Robert Broadbooks, USA/Canada Regional Director, each shared a devotional during the conference. On the last day of the conference the group met at the Global Ministry Center and had a tour of the GMC facility.
A day prior to the conference the new Hispanic Strategic Readiness Team (HSRT) met. The HSRT is comprised of a representative of each of the university regional zones plus the three Hispanic district superintendents. The main purpose of the HSRT is to serve as an advisory committee, to strategize, to develop resources and events, and to support the Hispanic/Latino district superintendents, coordinators, pastors and congregations. The committee members serve for four years and meet once a year. Right after General Assembly the new committee is formed to serve for the new quadrennial. At the meeting the HSRT was structured into three committees: education; evangelism/discipleship; and communication in order to continue to provide resources for the advancing of the Hispanic ministries in the USA/Canada. One of the highlights of the meeting was the vision to establish the goal of doubling the present number of congregations for a total of 1000 congregations by the year 2020. The vision and goal was embraced by the participants of the conference. Information relating to the 26 Hispanic Ministerial District Training Centers in the USA/Canada was updated. There are currently 845 students enrolled in the ministerial programs. Praise the Lord!
