CQ ENHANCEMENT SEMINARS*
Cultural Intelligence (CQ) is the capability to function effectively in a variety of cultural contexts – including national, ethnic, organizational, generational, and many other cultures. It’s a whole new way of approaching the age-old topics of cultural sensitivity and awareness and it’s something anyone can develop.

Seminars are designed to help participants understand CQ as well as understand the results of their own CQ assessments. The purpose of the seminar is to:
- Identify the critical scope and processes involved in cross-cultural ministry initiatives.
- Gain increased awareness about ethnic and organizational cultures of ministry context.
- Discern the core assumptions of one’s own cultural perspective.
- Strengthen one’s ability to discern the fundamental assumptions of other cultures.
- Promote the personal humility, sensitivity and mutual respect that mature, Christ-like relationships across cultures require.
- Develop a plan for utilizing CQ in one’s own ministry.
“Individuals with high CQ have the knowledge and motivation to encounter unfamiliar cultural situations, think deeply about what’s happening (or not happening), and make appropriate adjustments to how they understand, relate, and behave there. CQ is a matrix that consists of four different emphases, all of which are linked together:
- CQ Drive (Motivation) – measures our degree of interest in persevering through cross-cultural conflict.
- CQ Knowledge (Cognition) – measures our level of knowledge and understanding about cross-cultural differences.
- CQ Strategy (Meta-cognition) – measures our ability to accurately interpret cues we receive as we engage cross-culturally.
- CQ Action (Behavior) – measures our ability to actually act appropriately when interacting cross-culturally.
