BA - Jamaica Bible College
MA - Eastern Nazarene College
DMin – International Bible Seminary
Pastored in Jamaica, West Indies from 1978-1986
Planted and pastored the Far Rockaway Church of the Nazarene from 1986-2000
Pastor of Brooklyn Beulah Church of the Nazarene from 2000 to present.

I am humbled by the leading of the Lord in my life. In 1972, I gave my life to Jesus and was called to the ministry in 1974. Pastoring for over 25 years has been a very interesting journey. I have experienced the highs and the lows, but God has certainly been faithful. To Him I give all of the praise for whatever He has helped me to accomplish in ministry so far.

My present challenge is to lead the Beulah Church of the Nazarene to new levels. This November, Beulah celebrated 80 years of ministry when we focused on Memories, Milestones and Vision for the next twenty years.

As we look forward to the future, we face great challenges and possibilities. As we envision the development of our church over the next twenty years and beyond, we will focus our efforts on prayer, evangelism, leadership, music, economic development and facility expansion. We will also focus many resources in children and youth development.

In addition to my responsibility as Pastor of this local church, I serve on the Metro New York Advisory Board with secretarial responsibilities, the Board of Ministerial Studies, the District Camp Board, and Eastern Nazarene College Board of Trustees.

I am presently serving on a few committees at the General Church level:
• Black Strategy
• Ministerial Course of Study and
• Compassionate Ministries
I also serve on other community boards.
My wife Olga and I have one daughter, Kerry-Ann and two sons, Dwayne and Justin.

Rev. Alice Piggee-Wallack

Parents: Rev. McCoy H. Piggee and the late Idell V. Piggee
Alice Piggee-Wallack BA: University of Illinois at Chicago: MSW: Jane Addams School of Social Work at the University of Illinois; M.Div: Nazarene Theological Seminary; Montessori Teachers Certificate
Church Planter: True Light Church of the Nazarene at Kansas City

On a recent visit to my nonagenerarian dad, the story was told again about how dad was on his way to church in DeQueen, Arkansas, as mama labored to bring me into the world. Much of my memories are of the church I was raised in Gary, Indiana and the “saints” who took a personal interest in me. The late Bishop Oscar Freeman, my former pastor, would say, “I wish you loved Jesus as much as you love me.” I never understood what he meant until I moved to Kansas City in 1986. Somewhere between Sunday School, purity Class, revivals, etc. I determined to live life, Frank Sinatra style – My Way. My life became organized around myself. Church and Jesus took a back seat. I have heard it said that in the middle of sin is the “I” and I can attest to that. Someone asked can anything apart from God be good? God is what makes things good and He began to do that for me in Kansas City. Away from friends, family, job and everything familiar, I began to feel deeply separated from God. Most significant, we had buried mama days before coming to Kansas City. We were in a foreign land and that is where God met me and assured me He knew what I was going through and that everything would be alright. Three days later I opened the door to a flier that led me to Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene. There, I was saved and sanctified under the leadership of now Superintendent Keith and Liz Wright. My Sunday School class became like a family. I heard the love and compassion of Jesus preached and surrendered to that love relationship with Him

In the spring of 1992, God called me to the ministry. In 1995, I joined Hope Center Church as Associate Pastor. My assignment was to develop a children's ministry. Outreach efforts at a mid-town park were tremendously successful and a shadow of the ministry God would open to me later. While at Hope Center God gave me vision of a healing and deliverance ministry – True Light Church. True Light Church, for me, is evidence of God's faithfulness. True Light has grown from about 10 – 50 in attendance. We are seeing prostitutes, crack addicts, and alcoholics accepting Jesus. We live our mission statement: We Re-present Jesus, the True Light in a ministry of truth, healing and reconciliation. Our vision is to establish a transitional house, beginning with women. People need to know stability when they give their lives to Christ.

I have two children, Rebecca,25 and Blaise 18. Rebecca is a graduate of the University of Missouri at Kansas City and Blaise is a freshman at Macalister College at St. Paul, Minnesota. My husband, supporter and confidant, Philip Wallack is Associate Professor-Information Systems at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.

Dad is still a big influence in my life. Out of 4 boys and 2 girls, God found it fitting to call, “the least of these”, a woman to pick up dad's mantle. He is hugely proud to have a daughter coming after him.

Rev. Edward Husband Edward Husband Photo

Rev. Edward Husband was born and raised in Ovett, Mississippi. His parents are the late Will and Lillie Husband. He graduated from Benson High School, Prentiss Institute, and the Nazarene Bible College. He also did a course of study at Trevecca Nazarene University, where he obtained his certification in Urban Ministries.

After being ordained in 1967, he began to supply-pastor. He traveled and worked all over the southern region to Orlando, Nashville, Winnsboro and Louisiana. In 1969, he received his calling to establish a church and pastorate in Gainesville, Georgia. While in Gainesville, Edward became affiliated with different community activists and other organizations, some of which he joined and chaired. With the help of the Lord, the membership at Gainesville Bethel Church grew to well over 100 members. In early 1981, Edward received a calling to do another service, one that became a passion of his heart. He began and helped to develop the plan for Georgia Urban Ministries, he affectionately named GUM. This required moving his wife and four children out of Gainesville to a city right outside of Atlanta. At this time, news surrounded the missing and slaying of little black boys and girls. Rev. Husband's church and family members expressed great concern about his moving his children to Atlanta. In his heart, he was a little hesitant, but he knew the work of the Lord had to be done. Upon his move to East Point, Georgia he began holding services in the afternoon at the East Point church of the Nazarene. Later he began conducting a full service on Sunday morning. The membership at East Point began to grow.

For three year, he worked for the General Church as a National Recruiter for the United States and Canada. This job entailed locating preachers and helping them establish churches in the Church of the Nazarene. Today, Ed is the representative for Georgia Missions on the Georgia District. He is also the Director of Multicultural Ministries for Georgia and he serves on the Board of Ministerial Studies and District Advisory Board. He currently trains and educates pastors for new pastorates. He has taught in Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia. He currently pastors both the East Point Church and the Gainesville Bethel Church.

He has been married 40 years to Mary and has four children, Edwina and Edward, Eric, and Eleanor. He has one daughter-in-law, Nicole and one grandson, Christopher.

His Testimony

Ed's testimony is that he is saved and sanctified. “God has picked me up out of the miry clay, he has put my feet on the rock to stay.” He further says that God is still in the saving and sanctifying business. “We have to go out into the hedges and highways to reach lost souls. We have to get out of our comfort zones.”

One of the scriptures that is impressed upon his heart is, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ.” Philippians 3:13-14

“ It is God who has brought me this far and it is God who will take me the rest of the way.”

Elders James M. & Brenda J. Tyus
styus.jpg
James Matthew and Brenda Joyce Tyus were united in holy Matrimony on March 30, 1976. A holy union that has brought forth to two sons, Kairabe and James Jr., who further blessed their parents with two daughter-in-laws, Bridgett and Contrisha. In 1990, after James received his spiritual calling, he had a vision to build God a house. Later, they were unanimously elected pastors of Selma West Village Church of the Nazarene in Selma, AL, in 1993--a place where the Gospel makes a profound difference. Brenda serves as senior pastor of the congregation.

In May 2000, they made history by becoming the first African-Americans ordained in the history of the Alabama South District. Both are Alabama natives.

Their ministry focuses on preaching and exemplifying the gospel. As an extension of God's hands, James and Brenda have been used to transform sorrow into joy, despair into hope, defeat into victory, offering to all the opportunity to experience Jesus Christ in this uncertain world. They believe everyone should know who Jesus is, why he came, and what he said.

Dedicating years to the ministry, they have personally witnessed the glory of God, their church. What started with 6 members in 1993 presently stands at over 200. In addition to regular services, West Village Ministry provides outreach community programs that consist of the following: marriage counseling, parenting center, food, clothing, tutoring, mime ministry, praise dance, youth choir and spiritual guidance to all. No matter how long they serve God, James and Brenda's vision remains the same - a God fearing church of praise.

Michael Horn Michael Horn Photo

Michael David Horn's story is a testament to God's grace and willingness to grant second chances.

Michael was called to preach at age twenty-two, yet he ran hard from God, not realizing the wilderness that lay ahead. In his words, he became a man of the streets, selling drugs to anyone and everyone. Soon, he became a victim of his own product, a Crack addict.

For twelve years, he wrestled with drug addiction and hung out with some of the most dangerous men in Detroit. His thievery knew no end: He broke into houses, stole cars, kidnapped other dope men, even torturing them to find their stash. He stole from his mother and relatives.

Michael confesses, "I've been shot at, chased with guns, and had cars shot up and set on fire." Eventually, he was arrested and looked at five to fifty years in prison. Yet, he only served two months in the county jail.

"I was so blessed to have people praying who never gave up," admits Michael. "My running days ended." Through the grace, patience, long-suffering and love of a great God, he was delivered from the bondage that held his life in check. Michael sees a redemptive side to his life of drug addiction and crime. Quoting Psalms 119.71, he says, "It was good for me that I have been afflicted, that I might learn his statues." "I'm so grateful to God that he loved me enough to allow me to encounter such afflictions."

Now in his 40s, Michael has surrendered his life to God and is preparing for pastoral ministry. He says, "I'm confident to what God has called me to do." Quoting Paul in Colossians 1:25, Michael affirms, "Wherefore I was made a minister according to the gift of the grace of God, given unto me by the effectual working of his power, so as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel."

Recently, while attending a Rogers-Cunningham-Bowman Ministerial Institute session in Colorado Springs at Nazarene Bible College, Michael felt called to enroll for classes. On the spot, he met with admissions staff who got him ready for the spring semester. A scholarship became available. Others who met Michael and became convinced his testimony, offered to pay for books. In February 2004, he arrived in Colorado Springs to start classes. Someone even gave him a car to help get him around.

Michael attributes all to God. "God has called me to excellence. This requires much to do and accomplish. To me, the greater the call, the greater the haul. I give Jesus the praise glory and honor for His love and faithfulness."

Michael is a member of Detroit Grace Church of the Nazarene and has been mentored by Rev. Bob Hunter, the church's senior pastor.

Lamar Davis Photo
Rev. Lamar Davis, Sr.

Lamar Davis was born to Willie Mae Davis in Rome, Georgia, on September 26, 1955. His father died when he was two years of age, so he was raised by his stepfather, Curtis Bell. Curtis was a sharecropper on one of the largest cotton farms in the State of Georgia. Curtis accepted Christ when Lamar was still a small child, so he had the privilege of growing up in a Christian home. Lamar also accepted Christ into his heart at the age of nine in a Baptist Church in Morton Bend, Georgia.

Lamar grew up working in the cotton fields, but always prayed to someday get off the farm and go to college. One day at age 11 he was standing in a cotton field praying to get off the farm when God spoke directly to him and called him to preach the gospel of Christ. Even at that young age he knew that the call was real and he responded by promising God that he would someday preach, even though his first desire and goal had been to play professional football.

The Lord confirmed this calling in various ways throughout his teen years. Lamar actively played football and other sports from the seventh grade through his college years.

He was in prominent roles throughout his high school years being President of the Freshman Class, Vice-President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, member of the Student Council, and he lettered in three sports and was an All-Star in two sports. In 1974, he graduated from Coosa High School in Rome, Georgia.

In the Fall of 1974, Lamar started attending Tennessee Technological University on a football scholarship. The next year he transferred to West Virginia State College where he earned many awards and accomplishments and lettered in three sports. He earned his B.S. Degree in Education in 1978.

Lamar started attending graduate school at the West College of Graduate Studies and served as a Graduate Assistant Football Coach at West Virginia State College. As he thought longingly about a career in professional football, the Lord came upon the scene and reminded him about that commitment in the cotton field at age 11. He soon reconfirmed his commitment to preach and began preparation which led to his ordination as an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene in 1988 on the Houston, Texas, District.

Lamar is married to Sara Holmes Davis. They married in 1981 and have two children, Lamar, Jr., and Christian Marie.
Lamar enjoys being a family man, along with meeting people, jogging, bowling, and traveling.

Rev. Davis first became a Senior Pastor of a congregation at age 21. He pastored in West Virginia for 5 years, while being employed by Inroads/Charleston, Inc. where his major responsibilities were recruitment of the talented minority students in business and engineering.

Also, he coordinated workshops and worked as a liaison between the corporations and the students. He also pastored in Texas 6 years before coming to the Los Angeles Grace Church of the Nazarene in 1990. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, he serves on many boards and committees. He is Administrator of the Woodcrest Nazarene Christian School, Chairman of the Board of Grace Bible College, member of the Los Angeles District Advisory Board, member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Los Angeles County Board, and secretary of the Black Strategy Committee.

Lamar has continued to develop himself through participation K-Church and the Rogers-Cunningham-Bowman Ministerial Institute.

Rev. Lamar Davis is in demand as a speaker for revivals, youth camps and conferences, leadership workshops, commencement addresses, and numerous secular corporate events. He loves people and has a heart for evangelism and Biblical holiness. He is an exciting, evangelistic speaker with a blend of evangelism and expository teaching. He uses a unique, simplistic approach to presenting the gospel in a down-to-earth way that everyone can understand
