- Is this only about compassionate ministries and ministry to the poor?
- So why is ministry in the City so important?
- Isn’t ministry the same everywhere?
- Doesn’t God hate cities because they concentrate sin?
- Isn’t urban church planting enough?
II. To Prepare: Biblical Study
Read the four chapters of Jonah, asking yourself these questions:
- Why does God want to redeem Nineveh?
- Why was Jonah so afraid of witnessing in Nineveh?
- What extraordinary means were used to get the message across to the Ninevites?
- What was the essence of Jonah’s message?
- What would happen if we gave that message to the City today?
- What was the response of the people?
- What was God’s attitude towards this dangerous, “enemy city” of Israel?
- What was Jonah’s response when the people converted? Why?
- What is God saying to you in this reading?
