Session 2: Knowing Our Urban Roots, cont.
|
V. To Do:
- Interview two church leaders unknown to each other (local, district or denominational) for no less than fifteen minutes and ask them the following questions. Record their answers:
- When you think of urban ministry, what descriptions immediately come to mind?
- What is your personal attitude towards urban ministry?
- What was the driving agenda that created the early Church of the Nazarene?
- What should be our current commitment to urban ministry?
- What is your church’s response to urban needs?
- Contact the Nazarene Research Center to acquire the latest information on demographics, local ministries, trends and perspectives. The Church of the Nazarene has some of the best quality data available to any denomination as a resource for strategizing ministry. For personal contact, phone Dale Jones, director of the Research Center, at 1-816-333-7000.
VI. To Think:
If you were to give a report card to the Church of the Nazarene, what grade, from “A” to “F,” would you give for its impact in evangelizing or transforming cities of your acquaintance? Where have we done the best job? In what ways are we affecting change in the city currently? In what ways are we failing to impact the city as God might desire?
