ROAM Establishes Endowment Fund
Submitted by Harold Lewis

All of the assets of the ROAM Endowment Fund belong to the Nazarene Foundation, and grants (or income) from the fund shall be distributed as directed by and in accordance with decisions of the Foundation after consideration of the Funds Advisors recommendations The Fund Advisors are the President of ROAM and Gary Morsch head of the Center for Lay Ministries.

The thing that is so important is that any funds given to the ROAM Endowment Fund are given to the church to be used by the church. In the event that ROAM would be discontinued, the Foundation shall continue to hold the Fund (money) as a general unrestricted endowment fund and shall distribute the income and principal therefrom to such organizations as the Foundation in its absolute discretion shall deem appropriate.

The Church of the Nazarene Foundation is a 501 C 3 organization.

You know that we are still dependent on monthly contributions for ongoing expenses and still need to “pass the offering plate” among members!  This Endowment Fund will allow you or your friends a great opportunity to support the ministry.

Note: I met with Gary Morsch to discuss the future of ROAM and what he and the Center for Lay Ministries envisioned for ROAM.  All of you know that he has said that to become self sufficient is a primary goal.  I had met with Kenneth Roney of the Nazarene Foundation to discuss a possible foundation.  He recommended an Endowment Fund set up under the Nazarene Foundation. Gary became enthusiastic about the idea and gave me a check for $1000.00 as the first donation!

I mentioned to Gary that the Foundation requires and initial deposit of $3000.00.  Gary suggested using the funds we have for the balance, but let him know if we had a short fall.  I am excited!  I have been praying and searching for a plan and it seemed to come together!
