Larry Schultz grew up in Brainerd, Minnesota, attended the Minneapolis Railroad Telegraphy and Teletype School and upon graduation there, was sent to the Nebraska/Wyoming Division to relieve station agents while on vacation. It was in Hemingford, Nebraska that he met Pat and they were married July 1, 1960.
After 18 months and the birth of their son, they moved to Minneapolis and in 1972 the family that now included a son and two daughters moved to Whitefish, MT where Larry drove a timber truck, then became a sawyer and fell trees until 1980. In 1980 he became a journeyman electrician and in 1981 was hired by the Robbinsdale School District near Minneapolis where he did electrical work for 17 years. He went back to college and became a Master Electrician.
Pat worked in the purchasing department for the same school district 20 years in accounts payable and purchasing. Upon Pat's retirement, they moved to Raymore, Missouri to be close to their two daughters and a couple of granddaughters. Their son and his family including three grandchildren remain in the Minneapolis area.
Pat writes, “Through the years, Larry was privileged to do electrical work on over 20 churches in Minnesota. He did the total electrical work on several new church buildings. Larry discovered that he had something he could do for the Lord and found great blessing in it. He also went on several Work & Witness trips. We met such wonderful, real people in that time and made friends that will last a lifetime. We received so much more than we gave while we did the work.
“At the 2000 Indianapolis General Assembly, we visited the RV Work and Witness booth and a dream began to take place in our hearts and we planned to become a part of that ministry. Hence, we joined the ROAM group going to Scottsville TX in March, 2004 and were a part of 2005 “One Heart Many Hands" in Indianapolis.
“God has been very real to us and we love and serve His wonderful Son, Jesus Christ. He is our Lord and Master and we have sold out to Him. It is our desire to be His servants and make a difference by His grace.”
