Strategies for Multicultural Ministries

For various reasons, the cutting edge of growth in the Church of the Nazarene in the USA/Canada, in recent years, has been within the immigrant and minority populations. Our churches throughout the nation and especially in the urban contexts are being confronted with both the challenge and complexities of ministry to these groups.

Contained on this CD is a variety of resources primarily helpful to district leaders in understanding the history, the trends, the issues, the status and the challenge of these ministries in our generation.

Obviously, these materials are incomplete and, in process. Any suggestions or corrections that need to be made can best be done by contacting the office of Dr. Oliver Phillips of Mission Strategy USA/Canada, or at 1-816-333-7000 x2278.

This is an update of materials built on and compiled by the individual strategy committee reports of the mid-1990s. We hope that we have not misrepresented any particular group and plead forgiveness and correction, if we have.

Feel free to copy or use these materials wherever they can benefit evangelism and church planting among these “strangers in our midst” so that they may be received as brothers and sisters in presentation of the message of holiness of heart and life to the broader North American community.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Our department is grateful to Dr. Fletcher Tink and Mindy Hancock who ably assisted in the compiling and editing of these data.
